First initiatives

As part of Fotografia Europea, Spazio Gerra will host an exhibition by Ann-Sofi Sidén (from 30th April to 8th June) entitled “Same Unknown”, the result of a public art project led by the artist in recent months in Reggio Emilia. The Swedish photographer will present a video installation in which two hundred people from the town, dressed in their everyday clothes, slide down a pole similar to a fireman’s pole: a metaphor for how fragile and brief life is. Spazio Gerra will also have an exhibition of thirty works selected by a Europe-wide team that were part of the competition The Core of Industry, organised by Fotografia Europea with the Reggio Emilia Manufacturers’ Association and aimed at documenting and interpreting the essence of the current industrial scene in Europe. The awards ceremony with the presentation of the first prize will take place on Friday 2 May at 6pm (in Spazio Gerra, but in the event of bad weather it will be held at Teatro Zavattini, Cavallerizza).
The entrance’s video wall will have a video, created in collaboration with the experimental project “BluTu” Tante parti per un solo corpo” (Many parts, one body) in which the main image of the photographic event has been recreated in a mosaic of faces that the people of Reggio Emilia have sent via cell phone.
